Redundancy Policy

$300.00

This Redundancy Policy sets out the procedure to follow when restructures occur and the benefits that may be provided to employees in the event of a redundancy situation in your business.  The Policy does not form part of an employee’s contract of employment (so it does not create or give any contractual entitlement to employees) and is applied at the sole discretion of an employer.

Redundancy is a form of involuntary termination of employment and is a ‘faultless’ dismissal that usually occurs where the business has decided that they no longer need the role an employee has been doing to be performed by anyone, which leads to the termination of the employee’s employment.

It is important that in the instance of a redundancy scenario, consultation obligations are complied with, and redeployment options are actively considered by businesses before an employee’s employment is terminated. We have included further materials to support potential redundancy scenarios for businesses such as Redundancy Scripts and a Template Redundancy Consultation Letter – all available via the Online Shop.

Some businesses may choose to offer additional benefits, over and above the statutory minimum.  This template policy can be tailored to add more generous benefits for employees, which can greatly assist to provide comfort to impacted employees, as well as help to build the reputation of any employer.  We recommend you obtain specific legal, finance tax advice if planning on offering more generous benefits.
